Our Response to COVID-19

As defined by the state of Illinois’ Executive Order by Governor JB Pritzker, Phoenix Community Development Services (Phoenix CDS) provides essential services and will continue to operate and provide housing and homeless outreach services amid COVID-19. We have made the following adjustments to our protocol and procedures to keep all staff and consumers safe, as recommended by the Illinois Department of Public Health, HUD, and the CDC:

Homeless Outreach Services

Phoenix CDS will continue to assist individuals and their families to secure housing due to the more serious risks presented by homelessness and/or housing instability for those served. All face-to-face interactions will be proceeded by a series of COVID-19 screening questions and assistance will be provided by alternate means (phone or email) whenever feasible. All staff conducting face-to-face interactions will wear gloves and follow strict sanitation protocols.

Housing Services

Phoenix CDS has implemented safeguards at all residential housing locations that may limit some service access. We have closed common areas in most residential buildings, cancelled all group and social activities, suspended transportation for non-essential travel, suspended in-home support services for non-essential care, eliminated all non-emergency maintenance, and implemented restricted visitation procedures. All staff conducting face-to-face interactions will wear gloves and follow strict sanitation protocols.

Case Management and Support Services

All face-to-face interactions will be proceeded by a series of COVID-19 screening questions and assistance will be provided by alternate means (phone or email) whenever feasible. Regular wellness checks will be conducted for those consumers considered to be at the highest risk of exposure to COVID-19.
