Volunteer Day of Service Supports Homeless Veterans

Red Day VolunteersOn Thursday, May 12, more than 70 volunteers from Keller Williams Premier Realty participated in a day of service to benefit the Phoenix Community Development Services (Phoenix CDS).  Volunteers worked on numerous improvement projects at two Phoenix CDS properties that provide living accommodations for homeless veterans – New Hope Apartments and Veterans Haven in Peoria. They worked all day painting, cleaning, repairing and landscaping at both locations.  At Veterans Haven, extensive renovations in the kitchen and dining rooms included removal of a non-functioning range hood and utility sink, wall repair, deep cleaning, a brand new commercial linoleum floor, fresh paint and new window blinds.  Keller Williams team members provided or secured the donation of all services and supplies needed to complete the projects.

Phoenix CDS Director of Development, Kristen Berchtold said, “I have never worked with a volunteer group so organized and committed.  The work they accomplished in one short day would have taken our small staff years to complete! The level of caring and attention to detail they showed was truly phenomenal.  We are so honored that Keller Williams chose to help Phoenix CDS and our vets for their RED Day his year.”

The day of service is part of the international Keller Williams Premier Realty RED (Renew, Energize and Donate) Day. On May 12, nearly 134,000 Keller Williams associates from approximately 790 offices across the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia dedicated their day to renewing and energizing their local community through volunteer projects. The local Keller Williams office selected Phoenix CDS as its 2016 RED Day partner because of the extensive work the organization does to support homeless veterans.
